"Dhal" is a popular dish in Trinidad and Tobago, typically made from split peas, spices, and sometimes coconut milk. It's often served with rice, roti, or bread and is a staple in Trinidadian cuisine, known for its rich flavors and comforting appeal.

1/2 cup yellow split peas

1/2 cup water

2 tablespoons oil

3 cloves of sliced garlic

1/4 teaspoon turmeric

1/4 onion, chopped

Step 1: wash split peas

Step 2: Bring to a boil with 1/2 cup water

Step 3: Once peas are soft, turn the stove on low

Step 3: In a frying pan, heat up oil, garlic, chopped onions, and turmeric. Allow to cook until lightly charred.

Step 4: Add split peas, and stir together.

Hope you enjoy a taste of Trinidad!
